Pomegranate ‘Eight Ball’

Eight Ball Pomegranate

The Eight Ball Pomegranate – botanical name, Punica granatum cultivar “EIGHT BALL” – is an ornamental but edible type of pomegranate and produces small sized fruit with thick, glossy, dark-purple to almost black skin. The white blushed with pink arils have got a sweet-sour taste, with hard large seeds.

The fruit ripens from late February into March (depending on weather conditions).

Pomegranates do very well in Mediterranean type environments. They are sensitive to wind. Tolerant of moderate frost only. Older, well-established plants will tolerate heavy frost for short periods of time. They have shallow, spreading roots making for great small garden trees.
