Olive Frantoio

Frantoio Olive

The Frantoio Olive – botanical name, Olea europaea cultivar “FRONTOIO” – bears small oval fruit which turns black when ripe, which produces a sharp flavourful oil with a fruity aroma.

The fruit ripens from April and the tree grows to a height and spread of about 7m by 5m respectively. It has a strong upright to semi-pendulous growth habit and is very adaptable to a wide range of soils and climates. It is one of the fastest growing cultivars and adapts well to cool areas.

Olives make great shade trees for small gardens and grow excellently in pots/containers. Only light pruning for shaping the tree is needed.
