The Beaumont macadamia is the best variety for home gardens.  It is a slow growing tree with a spreading growth habit, but quick to produce and a heavy bearer.  It produces large, round, shiny smooth brown nuts of a good quality with excellent taste and flavour.  Nuts do not fall off the tree by themselves and have to be harvested between late March and June.  Beaumont is a self-pollinating variety.
