The Ronde de Bordeaux Fig – botanical name, Ficus carica cultivar “RONDE DE BORDEAUX” – produces small round pear-shaped figs with dark purple to black skin. The flesh is rich, sweet and dark pink to red with an excellent taste.
The fruit is one of the earliest black figs and ripens from late December. It is a compact growing plant which makes it an excellent choice for smaller city gardens or containers. At the growth habit of about 2.5m by 2.5m, it is a highly recommended variety and is suitable for most regions, also excellent for jams, preserving or eating.
Figs need a very hot and sunny place, and it is very important to water consistently.
