A dwarf succulent shrub with dark green leaves and softish black thorns on the stems. Flowers are borne throughout spring and late into summer in bright shades of red, pink and yellow. Plant outside in a rock garden, grouped with other cacti or in containers indoors or outdoors as well on a sunny patio or balcony. It also makes an excellent security hedge.
