Shield Fern

The Arachnoides simplicior Variegata is an evergreen fern which features glossy, lime green, feather-like, ovate-triangulated leaves and a showy soft yellow stripe down the midrib of each leaflet. It can be mass planted as a groundcover in the woodland settings or shade garden, typically grows to 1-2’ tall and to 1-3’ wide. This fern spreads by creeping rhizomes to form a clump and can be propagated easily from rootball divisions. They provide interesting additions to rock gardens too and can also be planted as indoor ornamentals in hanging baskets or containers.
