Do One Thing for Earth Day
We as Lifestyle Home Garden are thrilled to once again pose the challenge to schools and individuals to partake in our Do One Thing for Earth Day campaign.
Earth Day is a global celebration in recognition of the work that is being done to put our planet first – see this |LINK| to head straight to the official website.
How does it work?
To enter as a School:
We invite schools to participate by creating a visual which represents the Earth. This can be a papier-mache Globe, it can be a poster of the Earth, it can be any visual representation of the Globe or a map of the world. Each scholar / participating class then writes on a piece of paper what he or she is going to do to contribute to a healthier Earth and attaches it to the world. Some ideas include:
- Recycling
- Turning off the lights when not in use
- Using eco-friendly cleaning products
- Recycling and re-using / donating old clothes or toys instead of throwing them away
- Buying local clothes / toys
- Buying in-season local food
- Refusing single use plastics
- Using biodegradable bags when shopping
- Using glass / metal straws
Each school will receive, for its participation, a fruit tree, compost and fertiliser, to plant on the school grounds. Our reigning Miss Earth (pictured below) will also plant a tree with the school that shows they have put a lot of heart and soul into their efforts.
To enter as an individual:
We need to see your participation and genuine interest in Earth Day. Photograph and upload your entries to Instagram as a multi-picture post, using the hashtag #DOT2022 and tag us @LifestyleHomeGarden. We want to see how you are contributing to Earth Day as an individual in your own home / at work / at the gym / in your car / with your family.
There will be a prize for one lucky individual who exhibits the passion we want to see in our green community. Refillery has generously come on board with their eco-consciousness brand, sponsoring a prize worth R1000, which will be handed over after Earth Day 2022.
We look forward to your entries. If you have questions contact us at nicole@lifestyle.co.za. Please note that entries close on the 21st April 2022 for all schools and individual entries.
